Which is the better way to go? socialism or fascism?

If you had to choose one or the other...no other alternative. Which one, a free society where government has socialist policies to spread wealth and have a fair society or or a society where a few control the many, and whose goal is to fatten the pockets of the rich, make war, and keep the great majority of people in a serf life state?
